Research & Teaching

Research and teaching belong together. Our studies inform our teaching, while exchanges with students and early-career researchers can also inspire new directions for our research. Our focus is on methodologically sound research that generates robust evidence for prevention and population health.

Research

We combine sophisticated assessment and analysis methods with health psychological theory and the views of people in the population. In this way, we investigate how behavioral, psychological, and social determinants of health interact in shaping health and disease trajectories. We use these insights to develop and test population-oriented interventions to motivate health-promoting behavior and new health care concepts.

Projects

Our research covers a wide range of content and methods, from ants that can shorten questionnaires to zero-inflated models for count data.

Publications

The continuous dissemination of our research findings is a central component of our scientific activities.

Supervision of theses

We supervise undergraduate, graduate, and doctiral theses in the field of Community Medicine - from the initial idea to the final submission.

Teaching

We work and teach in close collaboration with our students. Our approach to teaching is based on the idea of active engagement with the subject matter. To support this, we use projects from our department, current studies, rand popular scientific contributions as a basis for discussion, helping students transfer transfer methods and research findings into practice.

Our goal

We aim to open the door to our field of research for our students and empower them to continue engaging with methods for improving population health in the future.
