UMG expressly welcomes applications from female junior scientists and supports them in reconciling their further scientific qualification with starting a family. Advanced training courses, seminars and accompanying events take place at family-friendly times. Application Process: A Step-by-Step Guide
Note: All documents should be completed in English and uploaded in PDF format
Step 1: Prepare Your Program-Specific Documents
Download and complete the following:
• Research Proposal and Ongoing Clinical Education Strategy
• Clinic Institute Director Confirmation
• Mentoring Agreement (optional)
Step 2: Prepare Your Personal Profile
Prepare the following documents
• Tabular Curriculum Vitae (max. 3 pages). Including a list of publications and other scientific activities. Recommended format: DFG - Deutsche Forschungsgemeinschaft - Curriculum Vitae template.
• Letter of Motivation (max. 3 pages).
Step 3: Gather Your Official Certifications
Ensure you have digital copies of:
• Certificate of the Medical Examination (Ärztliches Zeugnis)
• Doctorate Certificate (Promotionsurkunde)
• License to Practice Medicine (Approbationsurkunde)*
*The license is required before the program start (April 1, 2027). If pending, please upload a statement detailing the expected date of issuance.
Step 4: Online Submission
Submit your application via the Karriereportal of the Universitätsmedizin Greifswald (opening October 1). All documents must be uploaded in PDF format.
Preparation for Online Submission
To ensure a smooth submission process, please have the following information ready before starting the online form:
- Educational History: Final grades, completion dates (mm/yyyy), and locations for your Abitur, medical degree, and doctorate.
- Doctorate Details: Field and subject of your promotion.
- Specialist Training: Field, start date (mm/yyyy), and expected completion date (mm/yyyy).
- Publication Record: Total count of original publications (first, last, and co-authored) and reviews (first/last author).
- Project Committee Details: Name, clinic/institute, address, and email for:
- Working Group Leader: Head or Senior Scientist of the laboratory where the research project is to be carried out
- Clinical Mentor: Head or senior physician of clinic/institute where clinical duties are to be carried out
- Scientific Mentor: Senior Scientist (preferably external to Universität(smedizin) Greifswald, must be from a different clinic/institute than the Clinical Mentor)
- External Reviewers: Contact details (name, institute, address, email) for three external experts in your field (outside of UMG). Please select these in consultation with your Project Committee.
